Supporting Heart of Kent Hospice with Replacement Entrance Gates
After thieves damaged the hospice's entrance gates, GKW designed, fabricated, and installed a bespoke replacement set completely free of charge.
Project overview
In early 2024, GKW Wrought Iron Ltd had the privilege of supporting Heart of Kent Hospice following a distressing incident in which the charity's entrance gates were damaged by thieves.
After seeing a social media post highlighting the damage, our team felt compelled to help. We contacted the hospice directly and offered to design, manufacture, and install a replacement set of gates completely free of charge.
The challenge
The charity required a replacement gate solution following the damage caused by theft at one of their local stores. As a charity providing vital care and support to the local community, it was important that the damage was repaired at minimal cost so that vital funds could be used elsewhere.
Our solution
Following an initial meeting between our Director, Karle, and representatives from Heart of Kent Hospice in February 2024, we developed a bespoke gate design tailored specifically to the site.
In addition to replacing the damaged gates, we enhanced the overall design by incorporating the hospice's name directly into the gate panels. The gates were then finished at our local powdercoaters before installation.
Our team handled the complete process, from design and fabrication through to installation, ensuring the finished gates were both durable and practical.
The installation
Manufacturing commenced shortly after the design was approved, with our skilled fabrication team producing the gates at our workshop in Fairseat, Kent. Installation was successfully completed at the beginning of April 2024, delivering a secure new entrance for the charity.
The result
The completed gates restored security to one of the charity's stores locally. We were honoured to support such an important local charity and contribute in a small way to the incredible work carried out by the Heart of Kent Hospice team every day.
