Black steel swing gates with a cross-bar design at the entrance to a house

Automate your existing gates, safely and compliantly

Give your manual gates the convenience of electric operation without the cost of a full replacement. Fully installed, tested and made compliant by our engineers.

Making access effortless

Gate automation is one of the most cost-effective security upgrades available to homeowners and businesses. If your manual gates are structurally sound, there is a strong chance we can automate them, adding electric operation, remote access, and modern access control without starting from scratch. At GKW we assess, specify, and install the right automation system for your gates, your usage, and your budget. No overselling, no unnecessary replacements.

If your gates are structurally sound, we can almost certainly automate them.

Not sure whether your existing gates are suitable for automation? We'll come and take a look, give you an honest assessment, and tell you exactly what's involved.

Automation systems we install

Every property and every gate is different. We recommend the right automation system for your situation, not just the most convenient.

Underground systems

The cleanest finish available: motors are almost fully concealed beneath the ground, leaving nothing visible above the surface. Ideal if aesthetics are a priority. We install both electro-mechanical and hydraulic underground systems, which when properly maintained can last up to 15 years before requiring replacement.

Swing arm systems

The most common type of gate automation and typically the most cost-effective. Swing gates can be configured to open inwards or outwards depending on your driveway layout. Operated by remote control with adjustable delay and auto-close settings.

Above ground articulated arm

Used when a standard swing arm system is not suitable, usually because the gate pillar is too large for a conventional operator to work against. The articulated arm reaches around the pillar to open the gate. Suitable for gates up to 4,000mm per leaf.

Sliding gates

The right choice when driveway space is limited or when the approach is sloped. Sliding gates move across the entrance rather than swinging into the driveway, making them practical where a swing system simply would not work.

Automated rising bollards

A discreet and highly effective security solution. The motor retracts the bollard below the surface when access is granted, making them visually unobtrusive while providing a serious physical barrier. Used in secure driveways, pedestrianised areas, and commercial sites.

Automated Barriers

The standard choice for managing vehicle access to car parks, commercial sites, airports, and any location where quick and reliable access control is needed. Robust, durable, and operable remotely.

Automated garage doors and roller shutters

We automate garage doors and roller shutters for homes and businesses, so there's no more lifting or awkward handling. Depending on the job, the work is carried out by our own engineers or by a trusted partner who specialises in garage doors and roller shutters.

Entry and access control systems

Intercoms, keypads, video entry, and access control: we supply and install the full range of entry systems for domestic and commercial properties. Identify visitors, control access, and secure your site from a single system.

CCTV and ANPR

Add cameras to your gates and entrance. We install ANPR (automatic number plate recognition) ourselves, so approved vehicles can be recognised and let in automatically. For CCTV we work with a trusted, reliable installer, so you still deal with one team from start to finish.

Why choose GKW for your gate automation?

Automation is only as good as the system behind it. We specify and install automation equipment from leading manufacturers, and we back every installation with ongoing support and maintenance.

Really impressed with GKW. They automated our existing wooden gates and the whole job was done quickly and to a very high standard. Great communication throughout and competitively priced too.
